Candy Crush Saga Now on Windows Phone

The much awaited game title from Android and iOS has finally arrived on Windows Phone.

Candy Crush Saga

And yes, it is the official Candy Crush Saga from King.com.

After more than a week of playing this game with my Nokia Lumia 920, I can say that it performs well on a Windows Phone platform. But upon playing the game, even after some updates after its first release, it lags when connecting to Facebook. So meaning, it is quiet slow when on the map screen of the game. But when you are not connected to the internet, it performs very smoothly on the map screen. I think King.com needs to improve the app from that aspect. Also, I found my Lumia 920 to heat up quickly while playing it. Well, it also happens when I play Asphalt 8: Airborne and Age of Empires: Castle Siege so I think it’s Lumia 920’s problem.

My overall impression, the porting of game to Windows Phone is a job well done. It’s also nice that they support Windows Phones with 512 MB of RAM (low-end models) which is currently where Windows Phone becomes a strong competitor of Android phones.

You can download the game here.

Tiny Troopers is now on Windows Phone, and it’s AWESOME

Tiny Troopers by Game Troopers – source: Windows Central

Tiny Troopers by Game Troopers is the new addition to Windows Phone game collection as an Xbox title. I got curious after watching its promotional video from YouTube (see the video below), then after playing the tutorials and the first mission, I’m already addicted to it. I’m really really hooked to this game.

The game play is so nice, plus, the cute sound-effects makes this game more entertaining. Doing military missions with a set of soldiers, recruiting specialists like the Grenadier (grenade specialist), the Airborne (rocket specialist), the Medic (medical soldier, my favorite), the Machine Gunner (machine gun specialist), and the Delta Force (air strike specialist) that will help you complete a specific mission. Also, you can buy power-ups that will increase your chances of completing the mission.

The game has different missions, like killing all the enemy infantry, destroying their base, destroying their vehicles, rescuing allies, protecting the journalists, survive the enemy’s attacks, and retrieving something from your enemy. So you’ll not get bored with it. You can also adjust the difficulty from Easy, Medium, and Hard. I’m currently playing the Easy-mode, and to be honest, as you go further, the missions becomes difficult even in Easy-mode.

I’m so thankful to the developers of this game, it really makes me amazed again with my Windows Phone 🙂 By the way, Tiny Troopers is only available on Windows and Windows Phone. Sorry Android and iOS users 😛

VLC now looking for Beta Testers for their Windows Phone App

Good news Windows Phone lovers! Finally, the most loved free media player is heading its way to Windows Phone.

VLC is now looking for beta testers for the their upcoming Windows Phone app. So if you really love to have VLC on Windows Phone, maybe you can do your part to make it a reality as soon as possible.

To apply as a beta tester, you can fill up the form here.

Wanted! New Viber Beta Testers for Windows Phone 8

Viber, the popular VoIP app is looking for individuals who want to help improve their app for Windows Phone.

According to their Facebook page, they will be releasing the BETA version very soon to those who volunteer to participate.

Viber Windows Phone Beta Testers

I’m a Viber app user in my Windows Phone, and to be honest, the current app sucks. Poor performance, call notification fails most of the time, the caller is not notified when the call was declined by the recipient, and message notification is not real-time when the app is not active.

So it’s a good thing that Viber is trying their best to release a new app that is hopefully better compared to their current app for Windows Phone. It’s also a good move that they ask help from the end-users to make their app more acceptable in the Windows Phone market.

WhatsApp Returns to Windows Phone with New Features

WhatsApp for Windows Phone

What’s up?! Not much, just WhatsApp returning to the Windows Phone Store. After going MIA, the popular messaging app has returned. Not only has it returned, but it’s been updated. Earlier today, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore said the app would be coming ‘quite soon’. This does qualify as fairly soon! Details after the break.

Head into the Windows Phone Store and you’ll find version 2.11.490.0 of WhatsApp sitting there. Here’s what’s new in this update:

  • Chat backgrounds
  • Broadcast lists
  • Privacy settings (settings > account > privacy)
  • Media auto-download settings (settings > chat settings > media auto-download)
  • Custom notification tones (Windows Phone 8 Update 3 required)
  • Various enhancements and bug fixes

Not only does the app return, but it comes with a few new features. Chat backgrounds have been added, there are privacy settings, control the auto-download of media, custom notifications are there and more!

Heads up, those on Windows Phone 8.1 will get a warning message saying some features won’t work properly.

Gameloft Releases GameHub for Windows Phone 8

Gameloft, the popular games developer with numerous titles under its belt, has released a new app for Windows Phone. Game Hub enables consumers to quickly access top games, as well as check out what’s available on the Windows Phone Store. Think of it as the hub to all your favorite Gameloft titles. We’re seeing an early version, but there’s potential to offer some real value to consumers.

As the name of the app suggests, the Game Hub aims to be the portal for all Gameloft titles. As well as providing a list of Gameloft games to choose from (and providing a Store link to access even more), the developer has included five new mini-games for consumers to enjoy for free. These include:

  • Danger Dash
  • Green Farm 3
  • Littleest Pet Shop
  • Real Football 2014
  • Wonder Zoo

It’s worth noting that these titles are not available on the Windows Phone Store and are to be accessed from within the app. It’s an interesting switch from releasing games strictly on the Microsoft app store, but this hub does open up new possibilities to help consumers discover other games under the developer’s belt.
