Let’s be Positive!

Just saw this post in Facebook and I want to share it with you guys.

If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L. means “First Attempt In Learning”

End is not the end, in fact E.N.D. means “Effort Never Dies”

If you get “No” as an answer, remember N.O. means “Next Opportunity”

So don’t get embarrassed when you failed, don’t sink yourself in depression when you think you already reached the dead-end, and don’t lose hope when someone rejected you. Let’s be positive 🙂

Cheers

Should the Philippines Celebrate Mother’s Day on 2nd Sunday of May?

Today, almost all my friends in Facebook greeted their Mother via Facebook post a “Happy Mother’s Day!”. It’s nice that despite being busy on anything (including Clash of Clans, hahaha!) they still remember their Mother at least to greet them online (if it happens that they can’t visit their Mother or they’re just too lazy to do it). I just hope that they were sincere with their greetings, because you know… it’s Facebook, hahaha!

Anyway, while browsing the internet and having a cup of coffee, I saw an article from “malacanang.gov.ph”, a Philippine Government-owned website, about the real date the Philippines should celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Here is a summary of the article:

  • It was said that in 1921, the Ilocos Norte Federation of Women’s Clubs appeal to then American Governor-General Charles Yeater to declare the first Monday of December as Mother’s Day. Governor-General responded with the issuance of Circular No. 33 designating the first Monday of December as Mother’s Day.
  • When the Philippine Commonwealth Government was proclaimed, President Manuel L. Quezon also issued a presidential proclamation declaring the first Monday of December as Mother’s Day.
  • Then President Ferdinand Marcos issued Presidential Proclamation No. 2037 in 1980, declaring the first Monday of December as Mother’s Day.
  • During the term of President Corazon Aquino, she issued Proclamation No. 266 declaring the first Sunday of May as Mother’s Day, thereby changing the Filipino tradition of Mother’s Day.
  • The tradition was revived by President Joseph Ejercito Estrada through Proclamation No. 58, s. 1998 changing the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebration from first Sunday of May and third Sunday of June, respectively, to the first Monday of December.
